Today I have completed the letter to Secretary of Education Arne Duncan. I had some help from my furry friend Lucky the Wonder Dog. I wrote the letter to Secretary Duncan to request his support for the “3 Holidays Announcement.” The announcement states, “We take this time to remember our “Blue Star” and “Gold Star” Military Families and thank them for their sacrifice and generosity. We want them to know that they are part of our community.” This past summer I wrote to 7,000 schools and districts across New York State as well as all NY government officials including Senators, Members of the Assembly, County Executives, and Governor Andrew Cuomo. I also wrote to the President of the United States of America. I even wrote to the First Lady. Over 100 schools agreed to say the announcement. I thought to write to Secretary Duncan to recruit his support in making my dream of having Our Brave Military Families recognized during the school day on Patriot Day, Veterans Day, and Memorial Day go national. I hope to hear back and will let you know if I do.
