The United Service Organization is an organization designed to support active troops. The USO “…makes sure your help goes to those who need it the most: troops serving in combat, their families, our wounded warriors and their families, and families of the fallen.”, according to their website. They have programs in more than 160 locations in 27 states and 14 countries. They host hundreds of events each year for troops and their families left behind.

Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors provides ongoing emotional help, hope, and healing to all who are grieving the death of a loved one in military service to America, regardless of relationship to the deceased, geography, or circumstance of the death. TAPS meets its mission by providing peer-based support, crisis care, casualty casework assistance, and grief and trauma resources.
