Dear Neighbors,
Three important events to know about occurred today. Today we acknowledge Gold Star Mother and Families Day. It is a day set aside to remember their sacrifice and honor them and their loved ones. Today was also the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Run in NYC. Stephen Siller was a fireman who died while trying to save others on 9/11 at the World Trade Center. He was off duty and was going to play golf with his brothers and instead he chose to go back to the firehouse and get his gear that weighed 60 pounds. When they closed the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel, he decided to get out of his truck, get his gear, and run through the tunnel. He was the married father of five children and he was 34 years old when he died. What he did represents to me that we should always put others first and yourself second. The last thing I have to tell you is about a record, but a very appalling record. According to USA Today News, The United States Military Death Toll has now reached 2,000 in Afghanistan. Please leave me a comment about any of these events because I want to know what you think.
Your Neighbor,
Jake
