I wrote a letter to Mrs. Bonnie Carroll of Tragedy Assistance Programs for Survivors (TAPS) a while ago because I was interested in her organization.  Mrs. Carroll is the Founder and President of TAPS.   TAPS is a program that welcomes anyone who is a “Gold Star” family.  TAPS has Peer Support, professional education, “Good Grief” camps, seminars and more.  Peer Support is a program for “Gold Star” families to connect to one another.  Professional education is for Counselors, Social Workers, Chaplains, Nurses, and Mental Health Professionals to get training to help “Gold Star” families have someone to talk to about their feelings.  “Good Grief” camps are for children and teen survivors to go and get together.  We heard this week from Ami Neiberger-Miller, MA, APR from TAPS.  She is the Public Affairs Officer.  She wrote me back.  She said, “TAPS welcomes anyone grieving the death of someone who died while serving in the Armed Forces.” Support is there 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. I am proud to officially add TAPS to our website.  For more information go to www.taps.org.  You can also call TAPS Toll-free at 800-959-TAPS (8277).

“Stars for Cars” is very proud of the work that TAPS does.  If you are a “Gold Star” family, or know someone who is and they need help and support, contact TAPS.

We are starting a “Resources” page. It will be coming soon.  TAPS will become a hyperlink just like we already have other organizations on our “Links” page.

Jake
